SUMMARY:National Work Zone Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) has been successful in spreading awareness for work zone safety across the country because of participation from organizations and individuals just like you. Hundreds of companies and individuals reach out to ATSSA on social media each year using #NWZAW.\n\nNWZAW 2025 will be held April 21-25\, hosted by North Carolina Department of Transportation. NWZAW highlights the deadly dangers of inattention at highway work areas. The 2025 weeklong commemoration included:\n\n	Work Zone Safety Training Day - April 21\n	\n		Companies were encouraged to pause during the workday for safety demonstrations\, discussions about safety policies and other prevention steps.\n	\n	\n	National kickoff event - April 22\n	\n		The NWZAW 2025 kickoff event will be hosted by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).\n	\n	\n	Go Orange Day - April 23\n	\n		All roadway professionals across the country are encouraged to wear orange to proudly show their support for work zone safety.  #NWZAW and #Orange4Safety.\n	\n	\n	Social media storm - April 24\n	\n		Organizations\, companies\, institutions and individuals are urged to share messages and use hashtags #NWZAW and #WorkZoneSafety throughout social media between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET.  \n	\n	\n	Moment of Silence - April 25\n	\n		The moment of silence was started in 2022 to remember the men and women whose lives were lost in a work zone incident.\n	\n	\n\nPlease be aware and alert this summer as you travel through the many highway construction sites all over our country.  It is highly likely that you have friends or family out on our roadways making travel possible\, so keep them in mind.
