Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine Tour
The city of Beckley, WV, known for its coal heritage showcases a vintage underground Coal Mine open for public tours. On Friday October 11th at 1pm, join fellow APAWV member and tour the mine, museum, and surrounding property. Tickets are $5 for adults(18+) and children are free… Thank you BOYD CAT for their assistance to significantly reduce ticket prices! There are only a certain number of slots available so book ASAP.
The 45-minute riding tour through the underground coal mine is run by veteran coal miners who provide firsthand accounts of the daily responsibilities of past and present day miners. On the property, the exhibit also includes the lovingly restored, Coal Company House, Superintendent’s Home, Pemberton Coal Camp Church, and the Helen Coal Camp School… all of which give visitors a true representation of early 20th century coal camp life. Children will also have a blast in the Children’s Museum exploring the interactive exhibits.
Have children missing school Friday and need a learning opportunity? Not playing golf in Friday’s Golf outing? Come with us to learn, explore, and interact with one of the key factors that shaped our great state.
